Dr. Kyle Norris was recently appointed as Music Instructor at Williston State College in Williston, ND. His responsibilities include applied lessons and directing all instrumental and vocal ensembles. Norris previously served as the Interim Director of Bands and Brass Studies at Dickinson State University in Dickinson, ND. His responsibilities included the instruction of applied brass lessons, brass methods, music theory, and directing the DSU Concert Band, Jazz Combo, and Pep Band.

Norris received his Doctorate of Musical Arts in Trumpet Performance from North Dakota State University in 2012. In addition, he holds a Master of Music degree in Trumpet Performance from Ohio University and prior to that, he received a Bachelor of Music degree in Trumpet Performance at the Indiana University Jacob's School of Music.

Aside from his responsibilities at Williston State College, Dr. Norris maintains an active schedule performing and adjudicating. Recent performances include appearances with the Bismarck-Mandan Symphony Orchestra, Greater Grand Forks Symphony Orchestra, Fargo/Moorhead Symphony Orchestra, and the Fargo/Moorhead Opera. Norris has also performed with other orchestras throughout the United States including the Columbus Indiana Philharmonic, Owensboro Symphony Orchestra, Bloomington Pops, River City Symphony, and the Ohio Valley Symphony.

As a commercial performer Dr. Norris has performed with the Jazz Arts Group of Fargo/Moorhead, Allen Carter Big Band, Everett Longstreth Orchestra, FM Kicks Band, and artist such as Wayne Bergeron and The Temptations. In the summer of 2013, Dr. Norris served as a jazz trumpet instructor at the International Music Camp. During his time at IMC, he directed one of the student big bands, presented masterclasses, gave private lessons, and performed with the Faculty Big Band. ​Norris has also performed with Fargo/Moorhead area rock/horn bands including Post Traumatic Funk Syndrome and Helena Handbasket.

Norris's teachers include John Rommel, William Adam, Jeremy Brekke, John Schlabach, Dominic Spera, and Vicki Hastings.
