BADM 130 INTRODUCTION TO ENTREPRENEURSHIP (3 Credits)
This course is designed for students who want to investigate options forself-employment. Students will evaluate their personal and professionalskills, interests and abilities as they relate to business ownership, as well asthe opportunities, risks and rewards of self-employment..

BADM 150 INTRODUCTION TO RECREATION MANAGEMENT (3 Credits)
The significance and meaning of recreation, leisure, play, and sport inmodern society. The theories of play, models of sport, and the recreationaland sport movement in the United States. Role and scope of recreationand sport programs in the community, schools, commercial, and industrialsettings. Introduction to professional and career issues in the field.

BADM 170 RECREATION AREAS AND FACILITIES MANAGEMENT (3 Credits)
Basic consideration in planning, construction, design, risk management,and maintenance of sport and recreation areas, facilities, and buildings.

BADM 195/295     SERVICE LEARNING     (1-3 credits)
Maximum of three semester hours. Service learning may be accomplished by one of three methods: joining a club that has a public service component, doing volunteer work at a non-profit organization, or taking a course that links public service with its curriculum.

BADM 201     PRINCIPLES OF MARKETING     (3 credits)
Introductory marketing course concerned with fundamentals of the distribution of goods and services, pricing, promotion, and products.

BADM 202     PRINCIPLES OF MANAGEMENT     (3 credits)
Study of basic management and organization principles of American business firms; developing managerial knowledge and skill including basic concepts and principles; focuses on the major functions of management; planning, organizing, influencing, and controlling. 

BADM 203 LEADER SHIP TECHNIQUES (3 Credits)
The development of occupational knowledge and skills through activitiesthat may include: seminars, field trips, public service, and work experience.Individual and group meetings are held to plan and monitor each student'sassigned activities.

BADM 208     EVENT PLANNING      (3 credits)
A practical approach to the planning, organizing, staging and evaluation of events in the sports, recreation, business, and entertainment industries.
 

BADM 210        ADVERTISING I (3 Credits) 
Basics of advertising theory and principles including purpose of advertising, methods of appeal, selection of media, and creation of advertising campaigns.

 BADM 211        ADVERTISING II (3 Credits)
Prerequisite: BADM 210 or permission.  Provides practical experience in developing advertising campaigns for a local business, public agency, or nonprofit benefit.

 BADM 220     CONSUMER BEHAVIOR     (3 credits)
Prerequisite: BADM 201.  Theoretical and applied analysis of consumption-related activities of individuals.  Investigation of the reasons behind and the forces influencing the selection, purchase, use and disposal of goods and services.

BADM 234 CUSTOMER SERVICE (2 Credits)
Students will learn how to build a loyal, long-term customer relationship bymeeting the needs and wants of customers, handling difficult customerswith tact and skill, respecting diversity, and providing superior customerservice in person, online and via telephone in a variety of customer serviceenvironments.

BADM 236 INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS (3 Credits)
Explores processes of international trade, whether the company is animporter, exporter, or a multinational firm. Forms a basis for further studyand specialization in the international business field. In this course, studentswill gain an understanding of the institutions, environments, forces, andproblems that are involved when businesses operate in foreign economies.Its primary emphasis will be the dynamics of business on an internationallevel.

BADM 240     SALES     (2 credits)
Develops a professional concept of the function of sales in today's economy; pre-approach, approach, determining customer needs, handling objections, closing the sale.

BADM 245: RECREATION ADMINISTRATION (2 Credits)
Prerequisite: BADM 150. Administrative policies and organizationalmanagement of recreation services, financial and personnel practices,supervision, and promotion.

BADM 251     PERSONAL FINANCE     (3 credits)
The personal financial planning and management process:  goal identification and budgeting; minimizing tax liability; uses and costs of various forms of credit; buying, selling, and/or leasing real estate, automobiles and other major items; life, health, property and income insurance; various investment options; the retirement planning process; and estate planning options.

BADM 260     PRINCIPLES OF RETAILING     (3 credits)
Prerequisite: BADM 201. Fundamentals course dealing with the importance of marketing institutions and their methods of operation. Economic order quantities, location, profits, employee relations are some of the topics covered.

BADM 269     BUSINESS ETHICS     (3 credits)
This course will present a framework for understanding ethical decision-making and social responsibility as it applies to the business world.

BADM 299     SPECIAL TOPICS     (1-3 credits)
Prerequisite: Departmental approval. Special intermediate and advanced investigation of business related topics.

BOTE 102     KEYBOARDING I     (2 credits)
Basic instruction and practice using the alphanumeric keyboard. Emphasis on proper fingering for touch operation of the keyboard, development of speed and accuracy, and exploration of business document formatting. 

BOTE 108     BUSINESS MATH     (3 credits)
Review of mathematical fundamentals with emphasis on business applications and problem solving.

BOTE 116 STUDENT LEADERSHIP PRACTICUM (0.5 Credits)
Participation in the Beta Alpha Lambda chapter of Phi Beta Lambda (PBL).PBL provides opportunities for leadership training, personal development,community service, and further development of specific skills.

BOTE 121     BUSINESS ENGLISH     (3 credits)
Basic review of sentence structure, spelling, vocabulary, punctuation, grammar, and number usage.

BOTE 135: SOCIAL MEDIA INTEGRATION FOR BUSINESS (3 Credits)
Techniques and strategies used in social media communications with anemphasis on online public relations for an organization or a business.

BOTE 152 KEY BOARDING II (2 Credits)
Development of speed and accuracy on data/word processing equipment;letter writing, envelopes, tabulation techniques, outlines, printed forms,rough drafts, memorandums, manuscript preparation.

BOTE 188     COMPUTERIZED ACCOUNTING     (2 credits)
Prerequisite: ACCT 102 or equivalent. Provides a realistic approach to computerized, integrated accounting principles. Consists of six major accounting systems commonly found in computerized accounting environments; general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, financial statement analysis, depreciation, and payroll systems.

BOTE 217     RECORDS MANAGEMENT    (2 credits)
Study of the systematic control of business records' manual and electronic applications. Records creation, distribution, utilization, retention, storage, protection, preservation, and final disposition are discussed.

BOTE 218     DESKTOP PUBLISHING     (2 credits)
Prerequisites: BOTE 102 or equivalent & CSCI 101. Software application course providing students skills in electronic layout, editing, and production of documents.

BOTE 247     SPREADSHEET APPLICATIONS     (3 credits)
Intermediate and advanced use of applications software for the creation of spreadsheets, graphs, databases and macros.  Integration with other software applications are reviewed. 

BOTE 299     SPECIAL TOPICS     (1-6 credits)
Designed to meet student needs or interests; offered to utilize particular faculty resources; topics will be selected on the basis of currency and relevancy to student needs.

BUSN 250     PRINCIPLES OF REAL ESTATE     (3 credits)
General introduction to real estate as a business and as a profession.  The course is designed to acquaint the student with the wide range of subjects and terminology necessary to the practice of real estate.  This introductory course in fundamentals will include the nature of real estate and ownership, principles and concepts of title transfer, title insurance, real estate marketing, financing, contract law and agency, leasing, taxation, insurance development, appraising, and state license law.  Upon successful completion of the course with a 75% or higher average, a certificate will be issued, allowing the student to sit for the North Dakota and the National Real Estate licensing exams, as administered by the North Dakota Real Estate Commission.
