AH 130 | PATHOLOGY FOR ALLIED HEALTH  (3 credits)
Introduction to medical and pathological conditions commonly encountered by allied health practitioners.

AH 134 | MEDICAL DISORDERS  (3 credits)
This course provides the student with a basic understand of human diseases and appropriate interventions. Content includes statistics, risk factors, signs and symptoms, diagnostic studies, and treatments specific to each disease/disorder. Student must receive a minimum of a "C" in this course to progress.

AH 138 | BASIC PROCEDURE CODING  (3 credits)
Prerequisites: AH 134 & AH 171 with a "C" or higher. This course is designed to provide students with medical coding skills. The focus of the class is on CPT coding. Student must receive a minimum of a "C" in this course to progress.

AH 139 | BASIC DIAGNOSIS CODING  (3 credits)
Prerequisites: AH 134 & AH 171. This course teaches the basic skills needed for medical coding. The course is an overview of basic coding principles of ICD-10 coding.

AH 142 | INTERMEDIATE CODING I (3 credits)
Prerequisites: AH 134 & AH 139. The student must receive a minimum of a "C" in this course to progress. This course gives students the opportunity to analyze medical case studies and code medical records using both CPT and ICD - 10 coding methods.

AH 143 | INTERMEDIATE CODING II (3 credits)
Prerequisite: AH 142. The student must receive a minimum of a "C" in this course to progress. This course gives students the opportunity to analyze medical case studies and code medical records using both CPT and ICD - 10 coding methods.

AH 171 | MEDICAL TERMINOLOGY  (3 credits)
Study of prefixes, suffixes, and root words of medical terms and their meaning, spelling, and pronunciation. Emphasis on building a working medical vocabulary based on body systems. Student must receive a minimum of a "C" in this course to progress.

AH 231 | HEALTHCARE LAW & ETHICS  (1 credit)
This course will cover laws pertaining to health care (confidentiality, patient rights, HIPAA regulations) as well as common ethical problems that are encountered and how these problems are handled. Student must receive a minimum of a "C" in this course to progress.

AH 260 | KINESIOLOGY I  (3 credits)
Prerequisites: BIOL 220 & BIOL 221. In-depth study of the musculoskeletal system. Biomechanics of normal and abnormal posture, gait patterns, and body mechanics are presented.

AH 261 | KINESIOLOGY II  (3 credits)
Prerequisite: AH 260.  Kinesiology II builds off the basic information learned about body function in Kinesiology I. Student must receive a minimum of a "C" in this course to progress.

AH 266 | LABORATORY TESTS & DIAGNOSITC PROCEDURES  (2 credits)
Prerequisites: AH 134 & AH 171. This course teaches basic laboratory studies, normal and abnormal values, lab studies specific to body systems, and basic diagnostic procedures.

AH 287 | COMPUTER APPLICATIONS IN HEALTHCARE  (2 credits)
Prerequisites: AH 171. This course is designed to be a practical, hands-on introduction to the electronic health record (EHR). Students will learn to become proficient in the EHR software before they encounter it in the workplace. The student will gain a thorough knowledge of both the terminology of the EHR systems and the practical use of similar systems in a healthcare setting. Student must receive a minimum of a "C" in this course to progress.

Prerequisite: Departmental approval. This course is designed to meet student needs or interests and is offered to utilize particular faculty resources. Topics will be selected on interest and relevancy to students' needs.
