The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is a federal law designed
to protect the privacy of education records, to establish the right of students
to inspect and review their education records, and to provide guidelines
for the correction of inaccurate and misleading data through informal and formal hearings.
The Academic Records Office will disclose FERPA information by publishing a notice
in the college catalog, website and email to currently enrolled students within the first 10 days of the semester.
This notice shall prescribe the procedures whereby a student may make a formal request
for non-disclosure of directory information, exercise the right to inspect and
review education records, and other information pertaining to FERPA.
Williston State College requires all its employees to comply with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
