Online Programs

What is Online Learning?

Online Learning is a method of study that utilizes the Internet to deliver course content and communication with the instructor.  Online courses are often taught inside a Learning Management System (LMS) and employ various internet based technologies.

Williston State College has selected Moodle as its LMS.  Moodle offers many tools for use in the virtual classroom.  WSC also has other web-based technologies available to students and instructors including: web conferencing with Blackboard Collaborate, instant messaging with Blackboard IM, lecture capture with Panopto Focus, and many more Internet 2.0 technologies that are readily available.

The Online Campus at Williston State College also supports the Interactive Video Network (IVN) functions on the campus at WSC.  Interactive video allows for two way synchronous communications between students and instructors at different sites.  This allows Williston State to bring in degree programs at the Baccalaureate and Master's levels from other campuses to meet the needs of our local students.
