WILLISTON, N.D. - Williston State College and the WSC Foundation is pleased to announce the grand opening of the Department of Motor Vehicles, recently relocated to the WSC Western Star Career & Technical Center on the east end of the campus.

An open house is planned from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on July 11, with a grand opening ceremony set for 11 a.m. Beverages and hors d'oeuvres will be served and the public is invited to attend.

Formerly housed at the National Guard Armory and managed by the Williston Area Chamber of Commerce, management of the DMV was recently taken over by the WSC Foundation.
"This isn't something we actively pursued," said Terry Olson, Executive Director of the WSC Foundation. "But the state was looking for someone to take over the DMV because the Chamber no longer wanted to do it. We were asked if we would be interested and after visiting with our board and President Nadolny, and finding some space to house it, we thought we'd help this region by taking it over. We are glad to be able to help out the state any way we can."
The office is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, including through the lunch hour. There are five work stations with trained, fulltime staff with the capability to go to seven stations in the future, if needed, to provide better service. One window will be dedicated to tab renewals, which will reduce wait time. But if there is a wait, there is a comfortable seating area with a capacity for up to 20 people.
Equipment upgrades will minimize interruptions in service, as well. The office will take cash, checks, debit cards and credit cards.
"I think the public will be very impressed with what we've done in there," said Keith Olson, Director of the Small Business Development Center at WSC. "It looks good and the staff has done a really good job of getting their arms around getting us up and open to the level we need to be to try to keep up with the mass amount of traffic that is going through this community at this time."
