Construction season is nearly year-round in Western North Dakota.
Williston State College campus projects are busy with the spring thaw.
Construction has started on the second of two apartment buildings on the southeast corner of campus.
The $11 million dollar 'Phase II' project will be a mirror image of the first apartment building competed last fall.
The buildings provide housing options for essential service workers in the community and WSC employees.
'Phase II' will add 74 residential units with underground parking and ground floor commercial space.
WSC has made the land available for the apartments, however, the buildings are managed separately from the college.
(Kayla McKeil, Williston State College Marketing Director) "I think we are a true community college in a sense that we do whatever we can to help the community. We don't just offer academic assistance and I think we've shown that especially in the last few years with the growth of the community that we've reached out to help the community in general."
Construction on the administration building began in January.
The $12.1 million dollar Steven's Hall renovation displaced offices and a few classrooms for the calendar year but McKeil says the project is ahead of schedule.
The remodel will update everything from classroom flexibility to aesthetics to wiring, plumbing and technology.
McKeil says the project will offer long term energy efficiency savings and is expected to be complete in December.
