WSC faculty member, Quamme to receive full professorship

WILLISTON, N.D. - Williston State's Ken Quamme has earned the distinct status of full professorship.

Quamme, a life-long educator, began teaching 38 years ago. His career began at Killdeer High School where he coached and taught for nine years. After almost a decade at the high school level, Quamme headed north where he landed a job at Williston State College in 1986.

It's been 28 years since Quamme first arrived at WSC. During that time, he has taught several classes - spanning the Computer and Information Technology field - as well as hundreds of students. He has also held positions as the Career and Technology Director and the Chief Information Officer, who at the time was responsible for setting up the Interactive Video Network (IVN) and WSC's computer network. Both systems are still in operation at Williston State today.

"Education is a passion for Ken.  He enjoys sharing his knowledge and talent with his students," said WSC Provost and Vice President to Instruction, Wanda Meyer. "He has made a difference with every student that he has had contact with. He is a true educator at heart."

Quamme currently teaches a number of computer-related classes and also serves as Chair for the Business Technology department. He will be recognized for his full professorship achievement during the Spring 2014 Commencement ceremony, Friday, May 16th. At the start of his new contract, July 2014, he will assume his new title - Professor for Information Technology.

Quamme is married to his wife Julie, Principal of St. Joseph's Catholic Elementary School.  They have three children: Christopher, Jaci, and Logan.   For more information about Quamme's full professorship, please contact Wanda Meyer at 701.774.4231 or wanda.meyer@willistonstate.edu or Ken Quamme at ken.quamme@willistonstate.edu or 701.774.4207.
