WILLISTON, N.D. - Williston State College's pass rate for nursing boards is at 100% for 2015 for both nursing programs.
WSC offers both a Practical Nursing program and an Associate Degree Nursing program. A total of forty-one WSC students successfully completed the NCLEX (National Council Licensure Examination) to achieve licensure to practice as a Licensed Practice Nurse or Registered Nurse.
After completing a nursing program and graduating with either a certificate or degree, the graduate nurse must register and take the NCLEX in order to practice nursing. The NCLEX exam encompasses knowledge and aptitude in four areas: safe effective care environment, psychosocial integrity, health promotion and maintenance, and physiological integrity.
This marks the sixth consecutive year that WSC has achieved a 100% pass rate in the PN program. WSC one of the partners in the Dakota Nursing Program consortium made up of four community colleges: Williston State College, Lake Region State College, Dakota College of Bottineau and Bismarck State College. To date, all four colleges have achieved a 100% pass rate in ADN program for 2015.
The national NCLEX pass rate is 82.53% and North Dakota's NCLEX pass rate is 92.6%, which is significantly higher than the national average. WSC Nursing Coordinator Gail Raasakka, MSN, RN, CNE, states, "This 100% pass rate makes us extremely proud of our program and our graduates and sets the benchmark for future students to reach."
