WILLISTON, N.D. - When the Tetons face rival Dakota College-Bottineau on December 8 at 7:30, fans are encouraged to bring and toss a Teddy Bear onto the ice for charity after the first goal by Williston State.
Fans can bring a bear or purchase one at the Raymond Center before the game. All bears will be donated to the Williams County Social Services for children in need this holiday season.
Teton hockey is offering any youth hockey player from Western North Dakota or Eastern Montana wearing their Youth Hockey Jersey free admission to cheer on the Tetons.
"Our relationship with Dakota College-Bottineau is a great rivalry. We are both two-year schools that are competing against four-year schools," explained John Bowkus, Head Men's Hockey Coach. "We have had some great games against them. After DCB won the NJCAA National Championship this past season, we have an 'axe to grind' as they defeated us in the Regional Championship last February."
The Tetons transitioned from the NJCAA division last year into the more populated American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA).
"The move to ACHA has been very smooth with a great opportunity to schedule more home games each season," stated Bowkus. "Our goal is to move to the ACHA D1 division, whether it is next year or in the near future."
Currently, the Teton hockey team is 8-2 in the ACHA D2 division with the only losses coming from ACHA D1 teams.
Heading into the second annual Teton Teddy Bear Toss, the Tetons are #1 in the West Conference and #8 overall in the country.
