WILLISTON, N.D. - This February the James Memorial Art Center will once again be filled with WSC student art. The show will feature work from nearly 40 students from WSC Art Instructor Lino Azevedo's 2D design, 3D design, drawing and painting classes.

The show is held every February at the James and is free and open to the public.

"Having the show at the James is a great chance to expose the community to the young artists at WSC." explained Azevedo.   Art classes are quite popular at WSC and for good reason. "Creating art increases the problem-solving abilities of the right side of the brain. Drawing, in particular, is used to learn about a subject, visually plan out a process and can improve hand-eye-brain coordination. Art has therapeutic benefits as well." Said Azevedo.

Art can be an intimidating class for students who don't think they are artistic but Azevedo encourages all students to take his classes. "You just need to break down the project in a step-by-step method that makes it easier and less intimidating for novices. "

The James will hold an artist reception on Thursday, February 1st from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Works will be on display throughout the month of February.   Be sure to stop by to view these creations by WSC's incredibly talented students. Refreshments will be served.

The James Memorial Art Center is located at 621 First Avenue West in Williston. Gallery hours are Monday- Thursday 9am-2pm and Friday & Sunday 1:00pm-5:00pm. There is no admission charge for gallery exhibits.
