WILLISTON, N.D. - Whether you are craving a coffee or need some new Teton gear, the Williston State College bookstore, Andrea's, has it all!
Andrea's was named in honor of Andrea Heller, the bookstore manager for 25 years whose cheery and kind disposition welcomed all who entered.
Located in Stevens Hall, the bookstore is a one-stop shop for WSC students, faculty, and staff and is open to the Williston community.
The 2018-2019 academic year has been a big one for Andrea's, with important changes implemented and new faces behind the counter.
During Fall 2018, the bookstore incorporated a new point of sale (POS) system in an effort to simplify day-to-day business operations.
"The new POS system allows us to monitor inventory, track sales, and provide more accurate and consistent service to all of our customers" explained Jamie Montgomery, Bookstore Manager. "The new system boasts so many benefits to the bookstore and our students, including streamlined textbook adoptions for instructors, a new textbook rental program, and online ordering."
The textbook rental program will be introduced Summer 2019 and will provide students with a cost-effective option for their textbooks. The online store will also expand this summer to include WSC merchandise and apparel providing the WSC community and fans the option to buy all of their Teton gear online.
As of December 31, 2018, Andrea's also now has an interior coffee bar express window where coffee goers can order their favorite drink without having to enter the bookstore.
"The express window has been a huge hit," explained Chelsea Hinck, Bookstore Associate. "With more and more students accessing it every day, we expect this new add to stick around. It has eased the student, faculty, and staff traffic flow and allows things to run more smoothly!"
In addition to the express window, the bookstore coffee bar now serves smoothies in six different flavors, infused teas, and new flavored coffee options. Andrea's offers custom drinks each month like their February Sweet Treats and March's Sham Rockin' Drinks.
Of course, the bookstore continues to offer fan favorites including zingers, frappes, and mochas and other staples including a wide variety of snacks, muffins, cold drinks, candy, lanyards, headphones, decals, magnets, and other school supplies.
"Our apparel options are always a huge favorite, because of our Teton community," explained Hinck. "We have awesome availability in shirts, sweatshirts, polos, hats, beanies, long sleeve shirts, socks, infant/toddler options, and more!"
The bookstore will have a Graduation "Clothes-Out" sale from April 15 through graduation on May 10 to make room for the new Fall 2019 clothing line that arrives in August.
While the Teton community said goodbye to Marlene Sandaker at her retirement on December 13, 2018, rest assured, the bookstore has been left in good hands.
Jamie Montgomery started with WSC in February of 2018. Previously working in Student Affairs, Montgomery transitioned to the bookstore looking for a new challenge. "The Bookstore Manager position provides an opportunity to exercise my strengths in marketing, finance, and process development," explained Montgomery.
Chelsea Hinck, Bookstore Associate, recently welcomed a new baby on February 22. She will return on April 9. Hinck is also WSC's Assistant Volleyball Coach and brings expert marketing skills and maintains the bookstore's social media accounts.
LeeAnn Clark splits her time between mornings at the WSC bookstore and working for Northwest Human Service Center. Clark is native to North Dakota and is pursuing her bachelor's degree in social work at the University of North Dakota.
Kourtney Morgan works part-time and dedicates her afternoons to the bookstore. A Texas native, she loves spending time with her kids. A seasoned barista, Kourtney brings experience and creativity to the coffee bar.
Two student workers also make up the bookstore team.
When not attending classes, Shawn Postovit divides his time between the bookstore and the WSC Welcome Desk. He is also a member of Student Senate, the WSC Orchestra, Athletic Band and Choir.
Tierrany Trudell has been a student worker with the bookstore since the Fall 2018 semester. She works in the afternoons and helps keep the coffee bar running smoothly. She is a dedicated member of the team and is set to return to the bookstore in the fall.
Andrea's is open 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Follow the bookstore on Instagram (@wsc_bookstore) and Facebook (@tetonjava) for the latest news and specials!
