WILLISTON, N.D. - Back-to-back events by WSC's Relay For Life team allowed them to raise a total of $4,194.69 for the American Cancer Society (ACS) this year.
In light of WSC's former president, Dr. Nadolny, moving back to Seattle to be with his family, WSC's Relay for Life was given the opportunity to sell any items that remained in the President's house as well as any other items WSC Relay for Life Team members, WSC staff and faculty were willing to add to the fundraising yard sale.
Additionally, WSC's Relay for Life sold suckers and necklaces at the fundraising yard sale just one day before the WSC hosted ACS's second annual Relay For Life. WSC's team raised $2,993.94 in total sales.
"Our yard sale was a huge success," explained Caitlin Pallai, Executive Assistant to the VP for Academic Affairs. "The WSC booth was also able to raise $72 in donations at the actual Relay, and the summer Root Beer floats as well as online donations helped us easily surpass our $1,000 goal."
Saturday, July 30, WSC hosted 44 teams, for the Upper Missouri Relay For Life.
The Upper Missouri Relay for Life, part of the Great West Division of the ACS, has raised over $200,000 annually since 2010. As a result, it has become a "mega event" to be recognized as a nationwide fundraiser.
"The WSC campus is a wonderful place to hold our event," Pamela Stromme, Media Lead for the 2016 Upper Missouri Relay For Life, explained. "It is the perfect setting. The committee received numerous comments throughout the day how pleased everyone is with the venue."
"We want to thank everyone who generosity donated their time and money for this year's Relay," said Natalie Boese, WSC Communications Specialist. "We owe a lot of the success of this year's Relay to the WSC employees who help set up, tear down, and be readily available for anyone with any questions."
